We're excited to launch our new initiative, FundPath - Student Hiring Simplified, aimed at helping Canadian cybersecurity companies easily access government funding for hiring co-op students, interns, and recent graduates. Our goal is to simplify the process, reduce costs, and increase capacity for businesses while providing invaluable work experience for students in the cybersecurity field. This is just the start....for now we are just making program visible, after this we are going to make it easier to find and get funding. Keep an eye out, as we move forward. Canada Wide

1. Student Work Placement Program (SWPP)

Manitoba

Here are the subsidized cybersecurity student hiring programs available in Manitoba:

  1. STEP Services: This is the official student employment placement service for the Government of Manitoba. It connects eligible students with job opportunities in government departments, agencies, and Crown corporations throughout the year. Newfoundland & Labrador

1. Find Your Future in Tech: Administered by techNL and funded partly by the Government of Canada's Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program, this program offers fully-funded seats in select training or upskilling programs, including cybersecurity. 2. Student Employment Advisory Services: Offered by the Strategic Staffing Division (SSD) of the Public Service Commission, this service provides advisory support and resources for the recruitment and hiring process of post-secondary co-operative education students within the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The program focuses on outreach, attraction, and recruitment to increase awareness among students about career options within the government. More details can be found here.

3. JobsNL Wage Subsidy: This program offers wage subsidies to employers to help create long-term employment or seasonal/short-term jobs. The subsidy supports individuals who lack work experience or skills, facilitating their entry into the labor market. The program includes different options for subsidies, such as a 60% subsidy for the first 14 weeks and an 80% subsidy for the last 14 weeks of a 42-week employment period. 4. Summer Employment Program for Students (SEPS): This program provides funding to assist private sector businesses and not-for-profit organizations in creating summer employment opportunities for students (both post-secondary and high school). Northwest Territories

1. Summer Student Employment Program (SSEP): This program provides casual employment opportunities during the summer months for northern students completing or enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program. The goal is to support eligible northern students and provide experience to future graduates, aiming to retain skilled northern graduates in the workforce. 2. Internship Program: This program offers full-time employment opportunities for northern graduates who have successfully completed their post-secondary program within the last 24 months or will complete all academic requirements within six months of applying. 3. Trades and Occupation Wage Subsidy Program: This program provides financial support to employers to hire and train apprentices and occupation trainees in the Northwest Territories. Employers can receive subsidies up to $9.00 per hour for up to 3,200 hours of work experience (1,600 hours per fiscal year). An additional subsidy of up to $16.00 per hour is available for female apprentices to encourage their participation in non-traditional trades. Learn more about the program here.

4. Wage Subsidy Program: This program provides funding to employers to hire Northwest Territories residents with minimal work experience and education by offsetting the cost of hiring and training. The program aims to provide work experience and training for up to 52 weeks, with a maximum of $30,000 in wage subsidies and $500 for special equipment costs. Employers must contribute a minimum of 20% toward the wages/benefits of each employee over and above the subsidy. There is no deadline to apply, and the program can be accessed at any time. Nova Scotia

1. Student Summer Skills Incentive (SKILL) Program: This program provides wage subsidies to non-profit organizations, charities, and social enterprises that hire post-secondary students for summer jobs. Employers can receive a subsidy of $10.50 per hour or $11.50 per hour if the student belongs to a designated diversity group. The program aims to offer meaningful work experience to students while supporting community organizations. 3. Co-operative Education Incentive (CO-OP): This program provides wage assistance to organizations in Nova Scotia that offer career-related work experiences to university and college co-op students. 4. START Program: The START Program provides wage incentives and other types of funding to employers who hire unemployed Nova Scotians. It is available to small and medium-sized employers, including businesses, non-profits, and social enterprises, that are located in Nova Scotia. The program offers funding to cover training costs and equipment needed for new employees, and employers must apply before hiring the employee to be eligible. Nunavut

1. Cybersecurity Training and Work Integrated Learning Program: This program, facilitated by the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) in collaboration with Microsoft and other partners, provides wage subsidies and mentorship opportunities for women+ and non-binary post-secondary students studying cybersecurity or related fields.
