1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of websites, digital services, public content and online platforms operated by the Canadian Cybersecurity Network, referred to as CCN.
By accessing or using a CCN website or service, you agree to these terms. If you create an account or submit a form, you may also be asked to confirm your acceptance. If you do not agree, do not use the applicable website or service.
Certain memberships, events, purchases, programs, research activities or contributions may be governed by additional terms, forms or agreements. If an additional agreement conflicts with these terms, the additional agreement governs that specific activity.
2. About CCN services
CCN provides information, research, signals, articles, reports, events, directories, community services, professional profiles, learning resources, networking opportunities and other tools related to cybersecurity, technology, digital trust, business and professional development.
Services may include the CCN website, the CCN Intelligence Platform, the Library, Success Profiles, Expert profiles, membership services and contribution tools.
CCN may add, change, suspend or discontinue features when reasonably necessary. We will provide notice where required by law or by a separate agreement.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must have the legal capacity to accept these terms. If you use a CCN service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to do so and to bind that organization where applicable.
You are responsible for providing accurate information, keeping account information current, protecting your credentials and notifying CCN promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access.
You may not share credentials, impersonate another person, create an account using false information or attempt to access another user’s account. CCN may require reasonable identity or authority verification before granting access, changing account information or responding to certain requests.
4. Permitted use
You may use CCN websites and services for lawful personal, professional and internal business purposes consistent with their intended functions.
Unless CCN states otherwise, you may:
- Browse publicly available content.
- Share links to CCN content.
- Quote brief excerpts with clear attribution to CCN and the identified author.
- Reference CCN content for research, commentary, education or internal decision support in a manner permitted by law.
- Download materials that CCN expressly makes available for download, subject to any conditions shown with those materials.
Any permitted use must preserve attribution, copyright notices and the meaning and context of the content. You may not present CCN content as your own work or as an endorsement by CCN.
Nothing in these terms limits rights available under applicable law, including fair dealing under Canadian copyright law.
5. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- Use CCN services for unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, defamatory, abusive, discriminatory or harmful purposes.
- Interfere with the operation, security or integrity of a CCN website, account, platform or connected system.
- Attempt to bypass access controls, permissions, rate limits or security measures.
- Introduce malware, harmful code or content designed to disrupt or compromise a service.
- Scrape, harvest, systematically extract, copy or compile member information, profiles, directories, Library content or platform data without written permission.
- Use member information or CCN services to create unsolicited marketing, recruiting or contact lists.
- Use CCN content, member information or platform data to train, evaluate or improve an artificial intelligence or machine learning system without prior written permission.
- Reverse engineer, probe or test a CCN service without authorization, except where such a restriction is prohibited by law.
- Misrepresent your identity, affiliation, credentials or authority.
- Copy, alter or remove trademarks, attribution, authorship, copyright notices or source information.
- Upload content that infringes intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality or other rights.
- Use automated tools in a manner that creates unreasonable demand, disrupts service or circumvents the intended user experience.
6. Membership lists and member information
CCN membership lists are confidential and are for CCN use only. They are not available to members, partners, sponsors, advertisers or other outside organizations.
No user receives a right to access, obtain, copy, extract or use a CCN membership list. Access to individual profiles or introductions through an authorized CCN feature does not create access to the underlying membership list and may be used only for the purpose for which it was provided.
You must respect the privacy choices, confidentiality and communication preferences of other users. You may not collect, compile, disclose or use their information outside the authorized CCN experience without their consent.

7. Contributions and submitted content
You retain ownership of original content you submit to CCN unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.
When you submit content for publication or distribution, you grant CCN a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty free licence to review, edit, format, translate, reproduce, publish, display, distribute, promote, archive and make the content available through CCN channels for the purposes identified when you submitted it. This licence continues for published and archived versions unless CCN agrees otherwise in writing.
You represent that:
- You have the necessary rights and permissions to submit the content.
- The content does not knowingly infringe another person’s intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality or other rights.
- Any factual claims you present as fact are made honestly and with a reasonable basis.
- You have disclosed any material relationship or conflict that could reasonably affect how the content is understood.
CCN may review, verify, edit, decline, remove, correct, update, label or archive submitted content. Submission does not guarantee publication, Expert status, membership, compensation or endorsement.
Unless separately agreed, CCN is not required to treat unsolicited ideas or general submissions as confidential.
8. Intellectual property
CCN websites, branding, software, design, databases, reports, original content and other materials are owned by CCN or used with permission from contributors, licensors and partners. They are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
The names Canadian Cybersecurity Network, CCN and CCN Intelligence, along with associated logos and branding, may not be used in a way that suggests sponsorship, endorsement, affiliation or authorization without prior written permission.
Except for the limited uses permitted in these terms or by law, no content or service may be reproduced, republished, modified, distributed, sold, licensed, commercially exploited or incorporated into another product, database or service without permission from the applicable rights holder.
9. Public information, research and intelligence
CCN content may draw on public information, contributor perspectives, community input, research and editorial analysis. Sources and contributors may hold different views. Publication does not mean that CCN, its Advisory Board, National Intelligence Council, members, partners or contributors endorse every statement or conclusion.
Signals, briefs, reports, recommendations and other intelligence products are provided to support awareness and decision making. They may include judgments about developing issues and may change as new information becomes available.
You are responsible for evaluating the relevance, reliability and suitability of information for your circumstances.
10. No professional advice
CCN content and services are provided for general informational, educational and professional development purposes. They do not constitute legal, financial, investment, insurance, employment, regulatory, technical or other professional advice.
You should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional before acting on information where decisions may have material legal, financial, security, operational or personal consequences.
CCN does not guarantee a particular outcome from membership, a profile, a recommendation, an introduction, an event, a report or any other service.
11. Third party content and services
CCN websites and services may contain content supplied by contributors or links to independent websites, platforms, payment providers and other third party services.
Links are provided for convenience and context. Unless expressly stated, CCN does not control or endorse an external service and is not responsible for its availability, accuracy, security, terms or privacy practices.
Your use of an external service is governed by that provider’s terms and policies.
12. Service availability and security
CCN works to provide useful and secure services but does not guarantee uninterrupted, error free or completely secure operation. Maintenance, technical failures, security events, provider outages or changes may affect availability.
CCN may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate misuse, comply with law, maintain a service or enforce these terms.
You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security, backups and independent records for information important to you.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CCN websites, content and services are provided on an as available basis without representations, warranties or conditions that are not expressly stated in writing.
CCN does not warrant that content will always be complete, current, accurate or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty, condition or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CCN and its directors, officers, employees and authorized representatives will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss arising from use of or inability to use a CCN website, service or content.
CCN is not responsible for decisions made solely in reliance on general information, interruptions outside CCN’s reasonable control or the actions of independent third parties.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability arising from fraud, wilful misconduct or any other matter for which exclusion is prohibited by law. Rights available under applicable consumer protection law continue to apply.
15. Suspension and termination
CCN may suspend, restrict or terminate access where a user materially violates these terms, threatens the security or rights of others, misuses member information or creates legal or operational risk.
Where reasonable, CCN will consider the nature and seriousness of the issue before taking action. Immediate action may be taken when necessary to protect people, information or systems.
Terms that by their nature should continue after access ends, including provisions concerning intellectual property, confidentiality, disclaimers and liability, will survive termination.
16. Changes to these terms
CCN may update these terms to reflect changes in services, practices or legal requirements. The revised version and updated date will be posted on the website.
Where a change is material, CCN will provide additional notice when reasonably appropriate or legally required. Changes do not retroactively alter a separate signed agreement.
Continued use after the effective date of revised terms constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. If you do not agree with revised terms, you must stop using the applicable service.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Subject to rights that cannot be waived under applicable law, disputes relating to these terms or CCN services will be submitted to the courts located in Ontario.
18. General provisions
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply. CCN’s failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of that provision.
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any applicable additional agreement, form the agreement governing the relevant use of CCN services.
